Ukraine
Women and young people have a vital role to play in shaping a just, lasting and sustainable peace in Ukraine.
Today in Kyiv, DPPA, together with UNDP, convened a workshop bringing together Ukrainian women and civil society representatives to discuss how their experiences, perspectives and priorities can inform peace efforts, inclusive decision-making and social cohesion.
Building on last year's conference, the workshop focused on moving from dialogue to action, strengthening women's meaningful participation and identifying practical ways to amplify their voices in shaping Ukraine's future.

Libya
The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) strongly condemned the use of force and intimidation at the Audit Bureau in Tripoli in an attempt to impose a contested appointment of the Bureau’s Deputy Head. The Mission warned that such actions threaten the rule of law and undermine the independence of Libya’s sovereign institutions, particularly the Audit Bureau’s role in safeguarding public funds and ensuring accountability. UNSMIL called for an immediate end to armed interference and the withdrawal of armed elements from the premises. It urged all parties to resolve disputes over appointments through established legal and institutional channels, in accordance with Libyan law and the Libyan Political Agreement.
PBC-AUPSC joint meeting
The United Nations Peacebuilding Commission (PBC) and the African Union Peace and Security Council (AUPSC) held a joint consultative meeting on 21 October at UN Headquarters in New York to discuss ways to strengthen African-led conflict prevention and peacebuilding, better align regional efforts with national priorities, and leverage financing and partnerships more effectively.
UN Assistant Secretary-General for Peacebuilding Support Elizabeth Spehar and Special Representative of the Secretary-General to the African Union Parfait Onanga-Anyanga were scheduled to deliver remarks.
Held under the theme “Advancing synergies and regional approaches in support of nationally owned peacebuilding priorities in Africa,” the meeting was co-chaired by Ambassador Omar Hilale, Permanent Representative of Morocco to the UN and Chair of the PBC, and Ambassador Churchill Ewumbue-Monono, Permanent Representative of Cameroon to the African Union and Chair of the AUPSC for October.
