
Ms. Daniela Kroslak
Assistant Secretary General, Head UNSOHMs. Daniela Kroslak of Germany was appointed as the Assistant Secretary-General, Head of United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH) on 19 March 2026.
Ms. Kroslak has over 25 years of experience in political affairs, peace operations and mission leadership, including extensive service in fragile transition contexts. She has a distinguished record in strategic and organizational leadership, high level coordination, mediation, and human rights. Most recently, Ms. Kroslak served as lead Facilitator of the Review of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) in 2025, and prior to that as the lead of the Independent Strategic and Civilian Staffing Review of the United Nations Office to the African Union (UNOAU) in 2024.
Previously, Ms. Kroslak served as the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Deputy Head of Mission in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), until December 2023. From 2020 to 2022, she was the Deputy Head of Mission in the United Nations Mission to Support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA) in Yemen. She previously served as Chief of Staff in the United Nations Mission for Justice Support in Haiti (MINUJUSTH) and in various other senior position at United Nations Headquarters and with the UN in the field, including Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, as well as with International Crisis Group in Kenya.
Ms. Kroslak holds a doctorate in International Politics and a bachelor’s degree in international history and international politics from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, United Kingdom. She also holds a License in Applied Language from Université Paul Valéry, in Montpellier, France. In addition to her native German, Ms. Kroslak is fluent in English and French and has knowledge of Arabic, Slovak and Russian.

Stephen McOwan
Interim Director of Mission SupportMr. Stephen McOwan (Australia) assumed his current appointment as the Director of Mission Support for UNSOH on 31 Dec 2025. Mr. McOwan has extensive experience in delivering operational support in critical, complex and challenging environments.
Prior to this appointment, Mr. McOwan was Chief of the Operational Planning Service in the Department of Operational Support from 2017, where he led the coordination and integration of support for all escalated or complex support operations and a range of operational support policy development initiatives.
Mr. McOwan has fulfilled a range of roles in UN peacekeeping missions starting in September 2004 with the UN Peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, followed by appointments with the UN Missions in Haiti and Timor-Leste, finishing as Chief Integrated Support Services. Following a year in the private sector in South East Asia, Mr McOwan rejoined the UN at Headquarters in February 2014, where he has worked in peacekeeping and operational support.
Mr. McOwan received graduate degrees in Business Administration (2002) and Project Management (2000). His undergraduate degree is in English Literature (1990).
Mr. McOwan is married with one son.
