As part of the global #16Days campaign, Relations & Liaison Assistant Netha Kreouzos, who works with UNFICYP’s Sector 2 Civilian Activity Integrated Office, talks to clients about the strong messages behind the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based violence while addressing routine requests, mainly regarding farming in the buffer zone. Netha works in an integrated office, where Military, UNPOL and Civil Affairs facilitate civilian activities inside the buffer zone - construction, farming, environmental issues, pilgrimages and visits to the religious sites, as well as inter-communal events. From 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10 December, Human Rights Day, the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign is a time to galvanize action to end violence against women and girls around the world. The international campaign originated from the first Women's Global Leadership Institute coordinated by the Center for Women's Global Leadership in 1991. This year, the UNiTE Campaign is marking the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence under the overarching theme, “Leave No One Behind: End Violence against Women and Girls”— reflecting the core principle of the transformative 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. UNFICYP’s Relations & Liaison Assistants in other sectors are also joining Netha in speaking with their clients about this important issue. We will bring you their stories in the coming days. #Orangeyourworld #LeaveNoOneBehind
