When Sierra Leone was emerging from a devastating conflict in the late 1990s, it hosted United Nations Peacekeeping missions to help prevent violence and build peace. Despite many challenges, peacekeepers helped restore security, disarm over 75,000 combatants, and supported the country's journey from war to peace.
